ABOUT THE PAINTING

This atmospheric painting of a tree evokes an eerie and haunting mood.

Tangled, skeletal branches stretch outward from a central mass of old growth, resembling grasping hands, shrouded in dim sunlight.

Upon closer inspection, the dark tree reveals subtle tones of burgundy, adding depth and richness to the shadowy composition.

Soft hints of light peek through the entwined branches, with delicate tones of gold and grey suggesting either the first light of dawn or the fading rays of dusk.

The painting’s moody atmosphere reflects my fascination with the eerie and the spooky, capturing the essence of Halloween and classic horror. It was loosely inspired by photographs I took in a local London park. A friend remarked that the mood reminded her of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”.

This piece was quite challenging to photograph due to its subtle colour palette, with the images struggling to do it justice.

Beautifully presented with a grey border in a dark walnut-effect frame, which elegantly complements the tones of the painting and creates a clean, refined look.
