ABOUT THIS PAINTING

This watercolour study explores contrasting textures and layered effects. The abstraction invites multiple interpretations, but is inspired by the fleeting brilliance of a lightning bolt seen through a frost-covered window.

In the background (bottom layer, sky), a central light form cuts through the darker tones like an electric charge, while the granulated foreground (top layer, window) adds depth and complexity. This work marks a point of convergence between watercolour and my signature acrylic abstracts.

Abstract Art
Abstract art is a style that does not aim to represent reality accurately. It uses shapes, colours, and forms to express ideas or emotions, often without recognisable subjects.

Abstraction
Abstraction is the process of simplifying or distorting real-world elements in art. It can be used in both representational and non-representational work to focus on form, feeling, or concept.

The painting is presented against a white border and framed in a rich wooden frame, which complements the cool tones of the artwork.

Offered with standard 2mm glass, with the option to upgrade to a UV acrylic screen for enhanced protection - learn more
