IMPORTANT: Due to the delicate nature of the watercolour surface, we highly recommend framing your valuable art to ensure optimal preservation. Watercolour paper also has a natural tendency to curl, but once mounted and framed, the piece will appear flat. We suggest entrusting any handling outside of the protective sleeve to a professional framer.
DELIVERY: 1-2 weeks without frame, 4 weeks with framing option.
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
A towering cumulus, also known as cumulus congestus, takes shape against a hazy sky, with crepuscular rays streaming through breaks in the clouds. Hints of an optical phenomenon, known as cloud iridescence, is apparent at the cloud edges, where supercooled water droplets diffract sunlight, forming subtle yet colourful borders.
This is a straightforward, atmospheric study painted with muted hues to evoke a sense of impending severe weather. The painting was created with the use of multiple references, personal photography and an understanding of cloud optics.
