ABOUT THIS PAINTING

This watercolour study captures the energy of breaking waves during a storm at sea. The loose brushwork and semi-abstract patterns of spray in the distance suggest large waves crashing into distant rocks, sending foam high into the air. The palette is dominated by Payne’s grey with hints of aqua where faint light shines through the waves, narrowing at their crest, ready to break.

Created using online references, combined with imagination and artistic licence.

The painting is elegantly showcased with an off-white border, set within a high-quality solid wood frame finished in matt black.
