About the Self-Portrait and artistic style
This giclée is a high-quality reproduction of my original acrylic painting, measuring 61x46cm. It serves as a Self-Portrait and also functions as the logo for Schafernaker Art. My main intention behind this artwork was to convey a glimpse of my whimsical sense of humour while intertwining elements that reflect my personal journey as a meteorologist and artist.
One notable feature in the artwork is the presence of a green screen (or CSO), which directly references my career in broadcasting. The expression on the character's face embodies the element of surprise often associated with the unpredictable nature of weather and forecasting.
Additionally, I made a playful choice by using an aqua or turquoise face, which happens to be my favourite colour and adds a touch of vibrancy to the overall composition. Lastly, the deep orange or red umbrella not only complements the aesthetic of the piece but also symbolises my deep-rooted interest in art and design.
Giclée
Giclée prints are highly esteemed and can be found in some of the world's most prestigious museums, art galleries, and private art collections. They should be cherished and cared for just like an original piece of art. We strongly recommend purchasing giclée prints with the intention of framing them promptly to ensure optimal preservation. Given the delicate nature of the paint surface, even minimal handling can potentially damage the print. Therefore, it is advisable to entrust the handling to a professional framer. Additionally, it is important to note that all giclées have a natural tendency to curl. Prints at Schafernaker Art are sent flat in corrugated cardboard envelopes or boxes, and they are never rolled or sent in a tube. They are carefully protected in a cellophane sleeve and accompanied by a mountboard for added safety during shipping.
