Instructions for customers and FAQ
When will I receive my art?
Timescales are provided in the item description on the online store. However, smaller artwork is typically dispatched within a few days, with delivery taking an additional 2–3 business days. Any delays will be communicated via email, so please check your junk mail for confirmations. Arrangements for commissions and high-value artwork (e.g. £2000 or more) are discussed individually.
How secure is my artwork during shipping?
Framed artwork is carefully packaged in oversized double-wall cardboard boxes with added padding and protection where needed, while prints and frameless watercolours are sent flat-packed with sturdy layers of card. Shipments are fully insured, and since the website's launch in 2019, with nearly 150 deliveries, there have been no reports of damage (or returns) so far.
Can I return the art if I don’t like it?
Statutory return policies apply if you are unsatisfied with artwork purchased from the online store. The buyer is responsible for arranging the return and covering all associated costs, including secure packaging and insurance. Refunds will be issued only after the returned artwork has been inspected. Please note that returns and handling increase the risk of damage, and even lightly scuffed canvases or framed artwork are not eligible for a refund. To avoid disappointment, please ensure you are fully satisfied with the images provided in the item description, including close-ups. Additional photographs or videos can be requested via the enquiry form. Different rules apply to commissioned work.
What happens if my art is damaged during delivery?
All shipments are automatically insured against damage or loss during transit. If you receive damaged artwork, please contact us at art@schafernakerart.com with photographic proof. Once verified, we will provide a refund or an alternative solution.
Can I view the art before buying?
Most of the artwork is available exclusively online, allowing it to be offered at a lower price. However, a limited selection of prints can be viewed at For Arts Sake in Ealing, London. Arrangements to view high-value pieces may be possible under certain circumstances.
Payments for commissions
For commissions, an agreement may be required. Payments, including deposits and final balances, can be made via instant bank transfer or credit card.
Payment in instalments
UK customers can contact us via the enquiry form to discuss reserving a more expensive painting and splitting the cost over a short period.
International shipping
Shipping artwork to the EU and the rest of the world can be costly and may incur tariffs. The buyer is responsible for any duties, taxes or fees imposed by their country upon delivery. Only the international shipping cost is calculated at checkout.
Collecting in person
While collecting artwork in person is not typically an option, exceptions may be made for certain paintings. Please contact us via the enquiry form if you would like to inquire about collecting your artwork in person.
