ABOUT THIS PAINTING

This painting is part of an evolving range of abstracts inspired by the geology of tropical seas. A textured base is created with many layers of gesso, sand, pumice (crushed volcanic rock), plastic as well as other materials. Translucent layers of acrylic paint produce vivid, ocean colours which ‘pop’ in natural daylight. For this reason, the abstract is best suited for a bright, ideally white, wall. The bottom of the painting features a rippled, deep-blue metallic texture. A contemporary tray frame elevates the painting as the ocean hues contrast with its white edge. In low light, the artwork becomes flatter and opaque.

Hues may vary substantially between different monitors, smartphones, and even between applications (such as Instagram versus a webpage). Please check the photos on multiple platforms.
