ABOUT THIS PAINTING
Inspiration
This experimental piece was created with the intention of exploring a broader range of textures and patterns compared to previous abstractions.
The piece is heavily inspired by patterns observed in Pacific atolls and the spiral rain bands of tropical cyclones. The ocean terrain features an island ring surrounded by a series of submerged islets. In the centre, the atoll shows a haunting underwater face that appears to be screaming, adding an eerie and surreal dimension to the artwork.
It is likely to be a one-off creation, not to be replicated in future works.
An elegant white floater frame perfectly complements the artwork.
Colour and light
Online images may not fully capture the vivid colour palette and depth of this abstract due to colour compression and the inherent limitations of electronic displays. Colours that are often underrepresented include hues ranging from turquoise to blue.
The artwork's appearance varies with the ambient light, being affected by the time of day and weather conditions. Turquoise appears vivid in well-lit spaces, but appears more subdued in dim conditions. Ideally suited for a minimalist and contemporary setting.
Photos have been taken at various times of the morning and afternoon.
